Mike Trout hasn't driven in a run since July, and that's the tone of Friday's player board. The biggest names on the slate keep coming back to the dugout with nothing in the RBI column, while a handful of contact bats underneath them refuse to stop singling. Here's where the quiet runs are deepest, and where the exceptions live.
The props board at a glance
| Prop | Record | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Mike Trout Under 0.5 RBI | No RBI in 11 straight | -235 |
| Kyle Schwarber Under 0.5 Runs | Hasn't scored in 5 straight | +110 |
| Royce Lewis Over 0.5 Hits | A hit in all 11 | -159 |
| Masyn Winn Under 0.5 Runs | Scoreless in 25 of 30 | -162 |
| Nathan Eovaldi Over 2.5 Earned Runs | 10 of his last 12 | +128 |
| Christian Walker Over 0.5 Hits | A hit in 9 straight | -150 |
Trout's RBI column has been blank for 11 games
The Angels' franchise name hasn't driven in a run in 11 consecutive games, and his Under 0.5 RBI has cashed in 19 of his last 20. Tyler Phillips is expected to start for Miami, and Trout has stayed Under this number in 11 of 16 against right-handers. Now the honest part, because that record comes at a cost: the RBI Under alone is priced at -235, which is a lot to lay on any one at-bat. The cheaper way at the same idea is his Under 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBI, which sits at +100 and has cashed in 12 of his last 18, including 4 straight. Same cold bat, even money instead of heavy juice. Worth a look: Trout Under 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBI at +100.
Schwarber keeps hitting them, and nobody drives him in
Philadelphia's slugger hasn't crossed the plate in 5 straight games, and his Under 0.5 Runs has landed in 20 of his last 28. What makes this one stand out is the price. Most of these cold-bat numbers cost you a premium; this pays plus money at +110. José Soriano is expected on the mound for Toronto in South Philly, first pitch 6:40 PM ET. Worth a look: Schwarber Under 0.5 Runs at +110.
The one bat on this card that keeps landing
Here's the counterpunch, and it's perfect. Lewis has recorded a hit in all 11 of his last 11 games, averaging 1.36 a night across that run, and the Over 0.5 Hits is -159 in Milwaukee. Shane Drohan is expected to start for the Brewers, and Lewis has a hit in 5 of his last 9 against lefties, which is the softest number in his file and worth saying out loud. The lean is to the Over.
The deepest number on the board belongs to Masyn Winn
30 games, 25 of them scoreless. That's the Cardinals shortstop, whose Under 0.5 Runs is the most heavily evidenced trend on Friday's player card at -162. The matchup tightens it: against right-handed starters he's stayed off the board in 13 of 15, and Ryan Feltner is expected to take the ball for Colorado. St. Louis has been a quiet offense generally, which you can read more about on tonight's team trends board. Worth a look: Winn Under 0.5 Runs.
Somebody has to give up the runs in Texas
Rangers games have been the loudest on the board all summer, and this is the pitcher-side version of that story. Nathan Eovaldi has allowed 3 or more earned runs in 10 of his last 12 starts, and the Over 2.5 Earned Runs pays +128 with Baltimore in town at 8:15 PM ET. Plus money on a trend that deep is the sort of number that doesn't sit around. Could be a value play: Eovaldi Over 2.5 Earned Runs.
Walker's bat travels
Short and clean. Christian Walker has a hit in 9 straight games and in 12 of his last 13, and he's averaged 1.15 knocks a night through that stretch. The Over 0.5 Hits is -150 in San Diego, where Robbie Ray is expected to start. Worth a look: Walker Over 0.5 Hits.
Quick hits from the rest of the card
- Julio Rodríguez keeps finding grass: a hit in 6 straight and 18 of his last 24, at -190.
- Even money on a Cub going quiet. Ian Happ's Under 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBI has cashed 6 in a row, 20 of his last 28, at +100.
- Ceddanne Rafaela is the cheapest Over on the page at -103, with 2 or more total bases in 14 of his last 20.
- Nick Gonzales hasn't scored in 6 straight, and 12 of his last 15 have finished the same way, at -165.
- One bat swimming against the tide in St. Louis: Willi Castro has a hit in 7 straight and 15 of his last 20, at -165.
Friday's card is a study in stars who can't buy an RBI and role players who can't stop finding singles. If Trout ends the drought, he'll do it against a right-hander he's already seen plenty of.
